Vermont Only The Essential Screening

Only The Essential's premier event is a week away. The Green Mountain Club is the organization that maintains the Long Trail - Americas oldest long distance hiking trail and the trail Casey and Colin grew up hiking. It's a fitting location for the first event of the Only The Essential tour. We hope you will join us for a wonderful evening in our home state.

"We Don't Need No Education"

Check out this wonderful article about two brothers connecting deeply with nature in my home state of Vermont.

"We Don't Need No Education. At least not of the traditional, compulsory, watch-the-clock-until-the-bell-rings kind. As a growing movement of unschoolers believe, a steady diet of standardized testing and indoor inactivity is choking the creativity right out of our kids. The alternative: set 'em free."

Colin's Writing on the Pacific Crest Trail Association Blog

The Pacific Crest Trail Association shared my attempt at summarizing the emotion and spirit of passing through the wilderness for five months. Here is their kind introduction:

"Colin Arisman hiked the PCT in 2013. I shared dinner with him at Der Baring Store and was really struck by how peaceful, introspective and passionate he was. I saw it as the classic effect of months spent in nature. Colin will be releasing a film about his hike soon. You can see the Only The Essential trailer here. How does one capture the experience of walking from Mexico to Canada? Here’s his shot."

The release of this film represents a world wide premier for the Pacific Crest Trail itself. We are happy that the power of deep connection in nature is being shared with such a huge audience!

WILD comes out December 5th and we hope to share our perspective on the hike with this new PCT following.
